Spoken Word!

Aprils inspiration of the month is poetry! Choose a poem that you find inspiring. Create a piece of music that you feel represents the poem. Think about:

• What do you think the poem means and how could this be expressed in your music?

• Could you use the words in the poem as lyrics in your piece? Will you keep to the original text or add your own spin on it?

• Will you keep the poem as spoken word or add a melody to the lyrics to create a song?

• Think about the rhythmic pattern created from speaking the poem - could you incorporate this rhythm in your piece?

Bonus Task! Try writing you own poem or lyrics to accompany your music. Think about whether you want the music to accompany the lyrics, or to go along side the written poem.
