Slurred

A slur connects a sequence of two or more notes together as one smooth sound. This is indicated by a curved line:



Legato

Legato is when the musician plays smooth, full-length notes with light articulation. This is notated by a horizontal line which is also known as Tenuto:



Staccato

A staccato note is played short and detached. It is notated by a dot over or under the note head:



Accent

An accent indicates a stronger attack or emphasis on the note. This is notated with an arrow over or under the note head:
