Structure Challenge!

Variation Frenzy!
Choose your favourite nursery rhyme! Create as many variations of the nursery rhyme as you can possibly think of. Think about:
In what ways can you vary the theme? Changing the rhythm? Changing the time signature? Changing the intervals or key of the nursery rhyme?
How far will you push your variations? Will the tune still be recognisable after the variation or will it sound like a completely new piece?
What character will each variation have? You could create a variation of the same theme in every emotion - sad, happy, angry and calm.
Climbing the Mountain!
Create a piece that builds to a peak. Think about:
How will you build your piece? Will the music grow in thickness or dynamic? Or will your piece grow in range or rhythmic intensity?
Which structure will best suit a piece that builds to a peak?
How will your piece end? Will your music end at the peak of the piece, or will it come back down again? Will you surprise your audience with a second peak?
